I have two of  Shelley's plate laps, a 600 grit and a 3000 grit. Both are stuck to Crystalite backing laps. The 600 grit is excellent but the 3000 does not run exactly true (moves up and down during rotation).  This may be due to the way I stuck it to the backing lap. It does cut well but the movement is a problem.

I got a SLS 1200 plated lap with my machine that was well used and I still use as it is not too aggressive on the softer fire opal I facet but I have a new SLS 1200 plated I use for my harder stones, quite happy with them
