Some of my diamond laps are getting to the stage where I should replace them but I think they may last a bit longer if I could find a way of cleaning the swarf off. I wash them regularly & use a dressing stick to sharpen the surface but that only works for a short time. Any ideas would be helpful

Are you talking about toppers? In any event, simply cleaning the lap and adding a few drops of oil and appropriate diamond powder is an optional extension of your laps usage.
Diamond toppers are reasonably priced, so just replace them.
