Hello. I have been asked to facet a zircon and a synthetic sapphire. How much is around a reasonable price to charge. I havent cut for others this way for 30 years and i am sure the price has gone up. I charged $10 per ct for finished stones then.

A "reasonable price" is up to you;  what you think your cutting is worth to you;  remember the cost of cutting keeps increasing every year and this is what you base your charges on - how much is it costing you to cut a stone - and then how much is your time and labour worth?  How intricate is the design you are using and how much time are you spending on a specialised design?

Two examples - $100 /hr ("money cut" designs) and $45 /ct.  I believe the gemfields cutters are now asking upwards from $60 /ct.

We do not live in Southern Asia where the cost of living is way below ours, so, we have to charge accordingly.

Thanks.  I was thinking around $65 to $75 for a reasonable cut so i feel that i am on the right path.
